madeit.com.au

For those of you not in Australia, madeit.com.au is basically the Australian version of etsy. It's a handmade market online.

Here are some of my favourite madeit finds...

Alice in Wonderland tea cup & saucer and set of bowls by Zinnia Pea

On the saucer is "Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at! Up above the world you fly, like a tea-tray in the sky!
On the matching tea cup is "'Take some more tea', the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly."

Milk & Two Sugars

Yesterday I came across the Milk and Two Sugars website while searching for baby shower ideas for Dann and party ideas for my big birthday early next year. (eek!)

I immediately fell in love with this concept. Especially since my birthday next year will be a Mad Hatters Tea Party...

The concept is basically 'High Tea at Home.'

Milk and Two Sugars supply you with all the decor, tea cups & saucers, high tea goodies that you could possibly need for your high tea at home event. They set it all up for you from the imported linens, delicate tea sets & vintage cake stands, to all the gourmet delicacies.

You can choose from eleven different table settings such as belle fleur, antique white, cottage love & vintage chic (just to name a few).

Their prices are extremely reasonable. If you really want to do it all yourself and just want to hire the tea sets, you can do that as well!

I'm so excited that I came across this website as it fits in perfectly with my Mad Hatters Tea Party theme for my... shall we say... 9th anniversary of my 21st birthday??? Hahaha! I'd love to rent some of their beautiful tea sets.... even just to decorate the tables with. I love the idea of having a garden tea party for just a close group of your best girlfriends too!

Hope you're all having a great start to the week. I've had a week all alone, just me & my kitty, Ruby. My hubby has been down in Melbourne for work. I've been crazily busy the past week though and he'll be back on Thursday. Not too much longer.

Florence & the Machine

One word: exquisite.

Last night I saw Florence & the Machine at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion and let me tell you, Florence blew my mind.

Her voice is so powerful yet so angelic.

There's something about this girl that is pure magic.... that voice... the way she seems shy one minute yet belts out these songs at the top of her lungs the next & dances around the stage like she was simply born to be up there...

The gig was awe inspiring. The stage had birdcages with light bulbs inside that lit up perfectly in time with the music.

It was definitely a gig I'll remember. Florence Welch is a magical inspiration.

If you have never checked out Florence & the Machine you can listen to them here

Roller Derby Rocks! So does Simon Johnson

The sun is shining this lovely (but still very chilly) Sunday morning as sit here with a coffee in hand. I've had a great weekend so far.

Friday night I saw one of my closest friends perform in a David Williamson play called Brilliant Lies. She was wonderful, I was so proud of her.

Saturday I had brunch with friends & a little shopping. We went to the Simon Johnson store to stock up on many high quality condiments. If you don't know who Simon Johnson is, he's a chef who owns 8 retail stores across Australia and is apparently now stocked in the UK. His Castlecrag store in Sydney (and maybe his other stores too, not sure I've only ever been to this one) has a fromagerie inside! I'm a cheese addict, so this is exciting for me, although not for Dann, who is pregnant, and had to step outside because she couldn't handle the cheese smell ha ha ha!

I purchased some of this scrumptious aioli & some butter chicken paste. Dann got her chocolate fix and our friend grabbed some Christine Manfield Massaman Curry Paste.

Last Night I went to my first ever Roller Derby game! It was awesome! I loved it. I had so much fun I feel inspired to pop on my skates again (if I still have a pair somewhere) & go for a roll.

I was expecting an actual rink with everyone seated around it but no.... there was no rink. The die-hard fans (I suppose you would call them) sat in a circle around the track on the floor. These seats are (of course) called the "suicide seats." Let me tell you, there were a few fans who ended up with a skater in their lap!

The game last night was The D'viants vs The Screaming Assault Sirens.

My eventful weekend doesn't end here. Today I'm off for a lazy Sunday lunch with the family and tonight I'm going to check out Florence and the Machine!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, lovely readers.

Colin Cowie ~ A Florentine Brunch

I'm guessing everyone knows Colin Cowie, decorator extraordinaire.  If you don't, he is the party planner to the stars. I love looking at his website from time to time to see what extraordinary events he has recently designed. Now, my taste is a little simpler than what many celebs are after, but his site is still worth a drool over.

I recently came across this Florentine Brunch birthday celebration on Colin's website. Just look at these pictures... Yup, I'll have my birthday celebration there thanks!

Victorian Sci Fi & Steampunk Love

Ok, it's official, I have a blogsession with Rock 'n Roll Bride. As a self-confessed rock 'n roll gal, I just can't get enough of Kat's amazing pictures of rock 'n roll weddings & seeing how unique each one is.
I recently came across this Victorian Sci Fi & Steampunk Love wedding posted on Rock 'n Roll Bride. Photographed by Joel Maus at Studio EMP.

This is definitely a very unique wedding. I love the table settings....

How out of control is this cake by Let Them Eat Cake? It's too amazing to cut!

Thanks to Joel Maus at Studio EMP for allowing me to post his amazing photos of Stacy & Eric's wedding. Thanks also to Kat from Rock 'n Roll Bride for allowing me to re-blog about this one-of-a-kind wedding.
