Gatsby? What Gatsby?

Have you seen it yet?

I saw it last week and thought it was wonderful, old sport! I love how Baz always manages to create a wonderful fantasy world that you want so much to be a part of whilst still keeping true to the story and making it believable. That was a true testament to the actors as well who I thought were all marvellous. I thought each one held their own. Joel Edgerton was so convincing as Tom Buchanan, watching him reminded me of when I saw him play Stanley opposite Cate Blanchett in STC's "A Streetcar Named Desire."

Did you love it? Did you think it did the book justice? One thing's for sure, the costumes and sets were phenomenal. It left me wishing I lived in a Gatsby-esque palace & threw such lavish, wild parties... and that amazing soundtrack... sigh...

I will leave you with some clips from Catherine Martin & Carey Mulligan for Vogue.

  1. Well, I just saw it last night and I have to say that it was not exactly the way I would like to have seen one of my favorite books interpreted. The music was a bit annoying, however, it was TOTALLY entertaining and the performances were great and there were some moments of Baz brilliance. I could watch Carey Mulligan all day. And did you spot Adelaide Clemens? Fun post. I love these types of interviews. Thanks!

    1. Thanks for your opinion, Connie! I have heard a lot of mixed reviews. Such a classic novel as this being made into another film is always going to have divided views.

Carey was wonderful, wasn't she? I did spot Adelaide!

  2. Oh, I want to watch it all over again. And can we please one day (when we're 5 wine rich) throw a fabulous party with dancing girls in fountains and oversized champagne bottles that shoot out confetti?
