Chrissy Amphlett

Credits: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Chrissy Amphlett had one of the sexiest, gutsiest, wildest, most rockin' voices on this planet. One of the best frontwomen this world has ever seen. Naturally she was recently named one of Australia's top 10 singers of all time. Sadly she lost her battle with breast cancer & MS on April 21st at only 53 years of age.

Below is my favourite Divinyls song. According to her husband, Charley Drayton, Chrissy "expressed hope that her worldwide hit I Touch Myself would remind women to perform annual breast examinations."

  3. The one and only time I saw her was on their 1981 tour at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. She has epitomized to me what a Rock Goddess is ever since. If you don't mind I'm going to borrow this for my Movember campaign next year - dude cancers and all. Having Chrissy tell you to touch yourself should save a couple of lives, men and women.

  4. Love, love, LOVE Chrissy! You stated everything in your post that I would have mentioned - She's awesome, one of the best singers (and voices) ever, and it was very sad/surprising to know she left us a couple of years back. My fave from them was 'Good Die Young'. So sad, because it's true in this case - R.I.P. Chrissy.
